Some legislators in Georgia are trying to pass a bill called National Popular Vote, or NPV, which would radically change presidential elections.
NPV would give away Georgia’s electoral votes based on the nationwide popular vote. In other words, California would have more of a say over your electoral votes than you would.
NPV is using state legislation to change how presidential electors are selected. It takes effect if passed in enough states that together they control 270 or more electoral votes—a majority that would control who becomes president. Currently, NPV has 196 electoral votes. This is 73% of the way to hijacking the Electoral College, manipulating the Constitution, and eliminating the checks and balances that protect presidential elections.
We must stop NPV. We cannot let them manipulate the Constitution to serve their own agenda.
