Save Our States Executive Director Trent England was recently quoted in a Straight Arrow News article examining the National Popular Vote interstate compact and recent developments in Virginia, where lawmakers passed legislation that would add the state to the compact and send it to the governor’s desk for consideration.
Trent explains the importance of the Electoral College in maintaining balance between different states and regions of the country:
“The Electoral College was created at the beginning of our country where people lived in cities, rural areas, small towns and states,” England said. “You need some kind of a balancing mechanism to where you don’t end up with a group that has a central voice.”
