Defending the Electoral College and the Constitution since 2009
A ballot petition was recently filed in Missouri to adopt the National Popular Vote (NPV) interstate compact. Petition 2026-068 intended to force Missouri to award its 10 electoral votes to the national popular vote winner, bringing the compact closer to being enacted.
Missouri voters, like those in every state, deserve to decide how their state’s 10 electoral votes are allocated. Joining NPV would undermine this right and give even more power to America's largest metropolitan areas.
The National Popular Vote movement seems to be getting increasingly desperate. They have never made a serious attempt to pass their measure by ballot initiative, even as they have struggled to make progress towards the 270 electoral votes needed to bring their scheme into effect. The only public vote on NPV was a veto referendum in Colorado, Proposition 113, which passed with 52 percent in 2020.
This petition may already be over, however, as the Secretary of State website now lists it as “rejected.” Save Our States will continue to keep you informed if this measure is revived or refiled.
