Proposed state legislation related to the Electoral College; ranked-choice voting and primary elections; and foreign threats is listed below and updated every day. Use the map to find bills in your state, review the list of all pending bills, or search to find a specific bill.

Most state legislative sessions begin early in the year and last for several months; there will be nothing listed for states not in session that do not have “carry over” legislation.

Issue Areas

Electoral College Bills

The National Popular Vote interstate compact seeks to nullify the Electoral College without changing the U.S. Constitution. Other bills and resolutions may alter the presidential election process or express support or opposition to the Electoral College.

Ranked-Choice Voting Bills

RCV would fundamentally change how elections are conducted. States are considering whether to adopt, expand, or prohibit RCV. Other bills related to primary elections (open or blanket primaries) may also be included here.

Foreign Threats Bills

States find themselves on the frontlines of global conflicts and can take action to protect their elections and economies.
